Volunteer

Volunteer your time with the youth in grades 6-12. There are many ways for you to participate with the youth of the church. Youth Ministry is based on relationship building among the youth and between the youth and caring adults.

Teach Sunday School. You do not need experience; we host teacher training in August of each year. You just need a willingness to commit your time to building relationships with the youth. You will also be spiritually enriched as you prepare lessons to share with the young people of the church.

If you are interested in teaching Sunday School, speak with a current teacher.

Middle School Sunday School: Mary Skibinski and Allison Tibe
High School Sunday School:
John Duncan and Ed Flynn

Lead a Special Program on Sunday Evening. Do you have a special interest in a topic that would be of interest to the youth? Maybe you work in the health profession and can come and answer practical questions about health and wellness. Maybe you have been on an amazing trip and want to share what you have learned. Maybe you have experienced God in an unlikely way and want to share your experience. Share your idea with a Youth Advisor and it may lead to a great program!

Serve as a Youth Advisors. Youth Advisors play an invaluable role in the lives of the youth of this church because they build relationships over several years. It is so important for young people to have caring adults in their lives beyond their parents and teachers, adults who choose to spend time with them.

Youth Advisors participate in Sunday evening activities and special trips and retreats. Youth Advisors are not expected to be at every event; instead, they are encouraged to build relationships over time by participating as often as they are able.  Childcare and dinner are provided for the families of the Youth Advisors on the nights when the youth meet on-site at the church.

If you are interested in serving as a Youth Advisor speak to one of the current advisors.

Middle School Youth Advisors: Gale Haruta, Christy Horne,

Accompany the Youth on Conferences, Retreats, and Mission Trips. The youth benefit tremendously from traveling together on weekend and summer trips. The concentrated time spent together during these trips helps form lasting relationships amongst the youth and between the youth and adults. If you can offer your time for this rewarding service, please notify a youth advisor or Erin Mills.

Assist with an in-town Mission Project. If you have a passion for mission projects and for youth, this is a perfect way for you to serve. Notify a youth advisor if you have an interest in assisting with a Youth Mission Project.

Serve as a Confirmation Mentor. Each year we seek caring individuals who are willing to share their faith story with a youth who is participating in Confirmation Class. If you serve as a Confirmation Mentor you commit to building a relationship with a young person that can last a lifetime.

If you are interested in joining the Youth Ministry, please contact Youth Council Chair, Rebecca Cooper (704) 543-4589.
